- The Akrapovic P-KAT-006/3 catalytic converter has been designed to counteract the decrease in sound and performance in the K 1200 R caused by the catalytic converter. The goal is to provide the sound and performance improvement that Akrapovic has accustomed us to with its exhaust systems.
- The Akrapovic P-KAT-006/3 model is compatible with BMW K 1200 R 05-08, as well as BMW K 1200 S 05-08.
The product design consists of a honeycomb-shaped metalized structure that carries a series of precious metals (mainly palladium, rhodium, and platinum) on its surface. These precious metals serve the function of transforming polluting gases, such as carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons, into non-toxic carbon dioxide and water vapor.
Why should this catalytic converter be installed in the Akrapovic?
- In order for the Akrapovic muffler to comply with EC (Euro 3) or ECE (Euro 4) approvals in terms of pollutant gas emissions, and to pass the ITV, it is necessary to incorporate this catalytic converter. In other words, if the catalytic converter is not installed, the Akrapovic muffler does not comply with the required approvals.
